Lammas: Celebrating the Grain Harvest

Dear reader, A few months have passed since I last updated the blog. This year has been quite busy, even though it feels like nothing happens in this very odd situation that requires us all to simply sit back and wait for the world to start spinning again. I spent the summer months of 2020…

About the Author

Hi, I'm Sara. Witch. Writer. Maker of things. Everyday Magic is a public grimoire: a digital record of my spiritual journey. It contains reflections on pagan topics such as the wheel of the year, self-development, art, and the spiritual power of nature. In my practice, I focus on creating a joyful and harmonious relationship with nature and on expressing my creativity. I hope this site will offer you tools and inspiration that spark your imagination.

Early summer harvest #growyourownfood #earthfocus #pagan #greenwitch The kitchen garden is a magical place❤️ #growyourownfood #kitchenwitchcraft #pagan #greenwitch #summer For this year’s Yule celebrations, I made a bracelet to express my theme/intention for 2022: CREATIVITY. I strongly associate creativity with fiery passion and desire, and thus with the element of fire. Every part of this bracelet was created with this element in mind. The wood cubes are made from cherry, a wood associated with fire, and the runes, which were burnt into the surface, express different types and aspects of fire: Fehu, the archetype of motion of expansion which flows forth from the primal fire of muspelsheim, Kenaz, controlled human-made fire: the torch of philosophical enlightenment and of artistic creation, and Naudhiz, the need-fire, the will and power necessary to manifest. What is your intention for 2022? #yule #wheeloftheyear #firemagic #jewelry #pagan #norsepagan It’s the little things😊 #maker #makersmovement #naturaldecor #fall #montreal #coffeelover Autumn in Montreal #canada🇨🇦 #montreal #livelovecanada This was my first ever attempt at making ritual jewelry. The basics needed to make a bracelet (cord, clasps etc.) can easily be obtained at any craft store and it was a lot easier to put together than I thought! If you want to work with wood from scratch it gets more involved though😊 For this project I really wanted to work with the energies of trees and autumn so I created the design from a beautiful piece of maple wood. The Maple tree is attuned to the earth and fire elements as it symbolizes change and transformation. Maple is also a nice wood for carving. I am Scandinavian so the runic alphabet holds deep spiritual meaning for me and I carved the úr/ùruz rune (manifestation, strength, health) onto my bracelet. The uruz rune resembles the horns of the aurochs, the giant ancestors to our cows and an important animal, spiritually and for survival, in ancient Germanic societies. Go cows!🐄 #pagan #norsepagan #witch #jewelrymaking #runes #woodworking The Autumn Equinox is upon us! My Mabon altar this year: acorns and sprigs of oak symbolize the god and the abundance of the harvest. The clay moon reminds me that we are entering the dark half of the year and begin the journey inwards, metaphorically and literally, to the underworld of the soul. The bronze cloth represents the thinning of the veil between the mundane world and the realm of spirits. #mabon #wheeloftheyear #pagan #witch #witchcraftforbeginners #wiccan 🍂 Few things are as joyful and satisfying as foraging your own autumn equinox/fall decor 🍂 #mabon #fall #autumnequinox #pagan #wiccan
